Some teachers might confuse engagement with just making lessons fun, easy, or otherwise entertaining. There is nothing wrong with that unless those means become the ends.

Productive struggle is about recognising that learning is difficult. It is about creating dissonance, managing change, and nurturing metacognition.

The Instagram video above provides insights on productive struggle and how it is better than simply relying on lectures, memorisation, reading, and highlighting.
