Another dot in the blogosphere?

Never obsolete?

Posted on: May 13, 2021

The sticker photographed in the tweet declares: This computer is never obsolete.

The photos in the original tweet and comments that followed showed how the computer had floppy disk and CD-ROM drives. The computer sticker had references to Netscape and companies (MCI and UUNET) that no longer exist in name. The computer is decidedly obsolete.

Try reselling a computer that is more than two years-old today and you will discover how obsolete it is. Actually, try donating it or recycling it and you might receive a surprising amount of rejection and disdain.

So, yes, the value of a computer drops the moment you unbox it. Unfortunately, the mindset that ignores change remains stubbornly fresh.
