Make blocking great again

Posted on: April 24, 2021

It is easy to block a troll on Twitter. If only it was as easy to block a marketer of illegal gambling in iOS Messages.

Blocking in iOS Messages used to be intuitive. I recall merely having to swipe right on the message and select block. I can still “Hide Alerts” this way, but this is not the same as blocking. Hiding alerts means I do not receive notifications of junk that I receive. Blocking prevents the junk from arriving.

At the moment, blocking requires digging into the Info sub-section of Info section to get the block option (see slideshow above). Why make the process more difficult than it has to be? I hope the next update to iOS 15 makes blocking great again.
