Another dot in the blogosphere?

“Self-care” is something that is often mentioned after “mental health”. Defined simply, it is about maintaining a healthy state of mind despite the state of the world.

What do I do for self-care?

I have weaned myself off Facebook and WhatsApp. I only go to them when I need to, not when they call to me. Why? Facebook and WhatsApp were the worst kinds of FOMO — they streamed to me without my wishes or control.

But I have adopted good “FOMO” by curating RSS and Twitter streams that I can refer to when I want to. These educate and entertain me. I stay in the know so that I can do my work and hold insightful conversations.

Speaking of work, my greatest form of self-care was a switch I made five years ago. I gave up full-time madness and took on part-time consulting. That has been the wisest thing I have done so far because I can choose who to work with and what to work on.
