Shallow “truths” of deep fakes?

Whether it is the press or YouTubers that feature new technologies, I wonder if they seek to stoke fear or fire imagination?
The video above is an example of an established YouTube channel that edited lots of information and opinion on deep fakes, but provided little awareness of facts and actions.
Perhaps the purpose of the video was to raise questions like:
- What can this set of technology do and not do?
- What are reasonable and logical approaches to dealing with this technology set?
- What does labelling the technology “fakes” say about what is expected about its use?
- What does this expectation reveal about the predominant mindset?
Perhaps expecting this much is too much. My guess is far too many will take the shallow “truths” of deep fakes.
