2016 challenge

Posted on: December 31, 2015

I find it difficult to take seriously anyone who claims to be an educator but is not on Twitter.

By being on Twitter I do not mean having a handle you signed up for 30 weeks ago after 30 minutes of sanctioned training.

I mean being on Twitter by openly and actively sharing, questioning, conversing, reflecting, and creating.

I also mean being responsive, building up instead of blindly tearing down, detecting and cleaning falsehoods (#crapdetection), attributing others, and not indulging in fake auto-curation.

I admire your 30 years of teaching or research or other related expertise. It took a lot of hard work and a dash of good fortune to get where you are. Now see what you can learn, unlearn, and relearn in 30 months of being productive on Twitter.

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read or write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. — Alvin Toffler
