Quotable quotes

Posted on: July 19, 2015

This is one of my favourite quotations about education. I might have first discovered it when I was taking an anthropology elective where we discussed the differences between schooling and education.

The quote has been attributed to Mark Twain. Like most truncated quotes, it might not have been said exactly that way. But that does not discount it as a truism.

I wonder how many teachers know the differences between the two. The differences are so important that I think only those that do should call themselves educators.

I created the visual with Haiku Deck. But this time I Googled for images of Mark Twain that were shared under the “reuse and modify” CC license. I applied a Google Photo filter to give it a sepia tinge.

This was the original image and the Wikimedia source.
