Learn from the weird kid

Posted on: May 23, 2014

It is Friday and I normally like to share something light. But today is about something a bit different.

Apparently a chap from Singapore was allowed to record a 22-minute video in North Korea. He also has photos.

He has received some flak for his efforts and he wrote this in his Facebook page to counter the negativity.

The video was shot with a GoPro mounted on the windshield of a car. There is no narration and the soundtrack is mostly the wind rushing past the camera.

Perhaps that is for the best because we have all heard what the popular press and the interwebs tell us about North Korea.

North Korea is like the weird kid in class who acts out and is not socially adept. All you know about him is what you hear from others. Now you have some insights into a room in his home.

You can make up your own mind. You can make comparisons or take things as they are. You can choose to place values where there are none or ignore values where there are some.

In the end, you might learn more about yourself than the weird kid.
