Another dot in the blogosphere?

Not more lectures

Posted on: March 30, 2014

According to Times Higher Education, 79% of the UK students they polled indicated that they would like to see lectures recorded to view at another time.

Taken at face value, the statistic indicates that students want lectures to be posted online.

But that does not mean that they actually want lectures.

It could mean that they would rather not attend in-person lectures, do not actually like lectures, wish to have recorded lectures as references, want the convenience of recorded lectures, etc. You need only ask them to get this assortment of reasons.

If you wean them off lectures and educate them more meaningfully and powerfully, they will no longer need and want lectures.
