Adelaide reflection

Posted by: ashleytan on: February 28, 2012

Mention Adelaide to anyone to knows anything about the place and at least two things might come to mind: Wine and education. The University of Adelaide even has a Wine Centre. I can only imagine what classes or staff appraisals there are like!

Here are a few of my fuzzy thoughts so far.

We have met with the lovely School of Ed folks at U of Adelaide and the equally lovely people at Pulteney Grammar School (we are planning to visit this school again later today).

I managed to ask the university folks three main questions:

  1. What framework of e-learning does your university have?
  2. How do you manage change as enabled with ICT?
  3. What systems, models, or policies do you have in place to evaluate e-learning?

I will maintain some professional courtesy by not sharing their answers, but I will say this: Their openness and honesty was refreshing.

I will also point out that it is easy to say how some of the grass might be greener just based on a snapshot. But snapshots capture single moments and can “photoshopped”! So I appreciated the candour and blunt answers.

BTW, the picture is of us, the four-person team from the Office of Teacher Education from NIE, posing in front of a shiny ball at Rundle Mall.
