Microsoft’s Bing search engine was “released” earlier than expected. Here’s a video preview.
Did people light up and go “bing!” when they used it? Not many from what I’ve read.
I’ve discovered that you have to key in basic (or dumb) phrases instead of specific ones. If you were shopping for an LCD TV, then something generic like “cheap LCD TV” would return more hints than something like “akira 32 inch LCD TV.”
Which leads me to point out two things. First, Bing seems initially set up for things like shopping and travel cost comparison. Second, you might have to dumb down the search terms to get better information. (I can’t be sure of this because I haven’t used Bing long enough.)
The YouTube video says that Bing is a decision engine. Well, it’s initial release has helped me decide on one thing. I’ve decided to stay away from it because Google’s options, e.g., Timeline and Wonder Wheel, are far superior.
