Wii Web browser upgrade

Posted on: November 13, 2008

GoNintendo reported that the next version of the Opera Web browser for the Wii will be out in December. Whee… and it’s about time Nintendo got around to it!

GoNintendo reports that the upgrade is free. I certainly hope so. I have a Wii and bought the browser channel for 500 Wii points (US$5) so that my Wii became a small Internet machine too. I attached an old wireless keyboard to the Wii for text input.

This brings up another thought on how schools might buy Wiis for educational gaming and Internet access! Wiis are about S$650 now and are thus relatively low cost but multifunction solutions. All schools need are old/extra USB keyboards and monitors.
